What is DHEA?
DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) is a steroid hormone naturally produced
in the human body in the adrenal glands located just above the kidneys.
DHEA goes into the bloodstream, and from then on it travels all
over the body and goes into our cells where it is converted into
male hormones, known as androgens, and female hormones, known as
estrogens. DHEA is the most common steroid in humans.
DHEA levels begin to decrease with age. While supplementing DHEA
will not reverse aging, it does seem to alleviate some of the problems
associated with aging. It may be helpful to take enough DHEA to
bring levels up to the normal range.
Do not take more than 50mg of DHEA per day.
