Migraine headaches are often described as an intense throbbing, pounding pain on one or both sides of the head. The exact cause of migraine headaches is unknown. There are two forms of migraine: with aura (formerly called classic) and without aura (formerly called common). With a migraine without aura, no aura occurs. These headaches can last from minutes to days and often leave patients with a postheadache syndrome, feeling exhausted and lethargic.
