SAMe (S-Adenosylmethione-Methionine) - Mood Enhancer. S-adenosylmethionine is a naturally occurring compound found in all human tissue and organs. Beneficial levels of SAMe, an amino acid naturally produced by the body, may be reduced by aging. SAMe precautions:
Do not take without your doctor approval if you are pregnant or are breast-feeding. Individuals with bipolar (manic) depression should not take SAMe unless under professional medical supervision. If you have or suspect a health condition, consult with a health care professional before using this product. SAMe is a very safe dietary supplement. Minor side effects include nausea and gastrointestinal irritation, due to its sulfur content. These were only noted at very high doses (1200-1600mg) and symptoms diminished with continued use.
